Challenge. Global Supply Chain Technology Co.’s supply chain operations team was entering contract re-negotiations with a key overseas vendor and needed a baseline cost analysis of products at both part and configuration levels. They had concerns with the integrity of existing data coming from internal sources and needed reliable information quickly in preparation for their impending negotiations.
Approach. After consulting supply chain management, finance, and IT personnel, I pinpointed the source of data integrity concerns and, working with finance personnel, produced new baseline product cost reports in a standard format, querying and downloading large data sets from the SAP MM ERP system.
Results. The supply chain operations team received assurance of the quality of their product cost data and received baseline cost reports just in time to confidently enter contract negotiations. The project was completed three weeks ahead of the team’s expected time frame.
